Substance use treatment

Refers to a diverse array of activities and services, which encompass identifying the issue (and involving the person in therapy), brief therapeutic approaches, evaluating substance abuse and associated problems, including histories of different forms of abuse, diagnosing the issue(s), and devising a treatment plan in Cedar Psychiatry that may involve counseling, medical care, psychiatric care, psychological care, social services, and post-treatment support for individuals struggling with alcohol or drug problems in the Salt Lake City area (as stated by the Institute of Medicine in 1990).

The housing provided for individuals in recovery from substance abuse is specifically designed to offer a drug and alcohol-free environment along with appropriate support services, facilitating the transition to independent living. This type of housing can be categorized as transitional living, sober houses, sober living, recovery houses, and 3/4 houses and maybe offered by Cedar Psychiatry in the Salt Lake City area.

County or local government funds

This includes learning about mental illness, mastering new methods of managing it, and offering encouragement to one another.

Illness management and recovery

Aripiprazole

A medication that belongs to the class of drugs known as atypical antipsychotics. It is primarily used to treat symptoms of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and depression. Aripiprazole works by adjusting the levels of certain neurotransmitters in the brain, such as dopamine and serotonin, which are involved in regulating mood and behavior.In a drug treatment facility like Cedar Psychiatry, aripiprazole may be used to help manage symptoms of substance withdrawal, particularly in cases where there is an underlying mental health condition, such as schizophrenia or bipolar disorder. Clozapine

Olanzapine

Olanzapine, an atypical antipsychotic, is primarily prescribed for the treatment of bipolar disorder and schizophrenia. It can be used for both long-term maintenance and new-onset disease in schizophrenia, and can be administered orally or via intramuscular injection.

Olanzapine/Fluoxetine combination

Olanzapine/Fluoxetine combination is a medication that is prescribed for the treatment of depressive episodes associated with bipolar I disorder, as well as treatment-resistant depression in adults. It is a combination of two active ingredients, olanzapine and fluoxetine, that work by modulating the activity of neurotransmitters in the brain. This medication is typically used when other antidepressant medications have been found to be ineffective.

Quetiapine

An atypical antipsychotics used to treat schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder by reducing the symptoms of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and major depressive disorder, such as hallucinations, delusions, mood swings, and sleep disturbances. Aunique aspect of Quetiapine is that it has been associated with a relatively lower risk of extrapyramidal symptoms (EPS) compared to some other antipsychotics. EPS are a set of movement disorders that can occur with the use of antipsychotic medications, and can include symptoms such as tremors, muscle stiffness, and involuntary movements. While Quetiapine may still cause EPS in some individuals, it is generally considered to have a lower risk of these symptoms compared to other antipsychotics.

Risperidone

Risperidone also an atypical antipsychotics thats used in the treatment of schizophrenia, bipolar disorder, and irritability associated with autism, may differ from similar medications in its class because its able to be administered via a long-acting injection that is given every two weeks. This can be particularly helpful for individuals who have difficulty adhering to a medication regimen, as it ensures that the medication is consistently delivered to the body.

Cognitive behavioral therapy

Refers to a form of therapy that focuses on identifying and changing negative thought patterns. Couples/family therapy

Dialectical behavior therapy

DBT has five components, including skills training, individualized treatment plans, access to therapists beyond the clinical setting, reinforcement of adaptive behaviors, and therapist team consultation. The therapy seeks to balance behavioral change, problem-solving, and emotional regulation with validation, mindfulness, and acceptance.

Eye Movement Desensitization and Reprocessing therapy

Electroconvulsive therapy (ECT), also known as electroshock therapy, is a treatment option for certain forms of depression, mania, and schizophrenia. It involves the use of low-voltage electrical stimulation of the brain. ECT is considered a last resort when other therapies have failed, or when a person is seriously ill and unable to take medication or at high risk of suicide. Advances in equipment, dosing, and anesthesia have significantly reduced the potential side effects associated with this potentially life-saving procedure.

Group therapy
