ICM evolved from Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) and Case Management (CM) and emphasizes frequent contact, small caseloads, and high-intensity care to improve the consumer's quality of life. The case manager coordinates services from multiple systems as the consumer's needs change, working to help them achieve their recovery goals and stabilize their lives.
