Intensive case management

Intensive Case Management (ICM) is an essential service in the mental health care continuum for individuals with severe mental illness. It involves building a caring and trustworthy relationship with the consumer, promoting their independence by coordinating appropriate services and providing ongoing, long-term support. ICM evolved from Assertive Community Treatment (ACT) and Case Management (CM) and emphasizes frequent contact, small caseloads, and high-intensity care to improve the consumer's quality of life.
